Review

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is an attractive crossover with a stylish composition and high-end packaging. Its responsiveness and nimble riding experience are the results of receptive steering and solid body control. Moreover, the Trailblazer's inside is sleekly designed and offers an accommodating rear seat in addition to a feature-loaded infotainment network.

What's Expected for 2022?

In 2022, Chevy made a few small modifications to the Trailblazer lineup. Namely, a heated steering wheel now comes as a discretionary feature on the LT model and standard on both the ACTIV as well as the RS. Moreover, roof rack cross rails in addition to a trailering bundle with a trailer hitch, bezel, and harness are new dealer-integrated alternatives. And if that weren't enough, the inventory of metallic paint pigmentations has now been expanded to include Blue Glow, Crimson, Vivid Orange, and even Amber Red.

Cost and Which Trim to Purchase

We recommend the Trailblazer LT with its modest price point of an estimated $32,000. It comes with the less potent three-cylinder. However, don't let that deter you, because, with a $2000 investment, you can upgrade from the 1.2 litres right up to the 1.3-litre. Additionally, choosing the Adaptive Cruise Control bundle provides a myriad of attractive benefits. Some of which include:
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Rear center seat armrest
  • Shift knob
  • Automatic climate control
  • Extra charging ports
  • Bigger touchscreen, and much more

Engine, Performance, and Transmission

Similar to the Encore GX, the Trailblazer boasts two separate turbocharged three-cylinder engines, as well as a 1.2-liter in addition to a 1.3-liter. The former generates 137 hp and the latter produces 155 hp. Additionally, the 1.2-liter engine comes strictly with front-wheel drive and is armed with a CVT (Continuously Variable-Automatic Transmission), and the 1.3-liter provides discretionary all-wheel drive.

Interior, Cargo, and Comfort

The cabin's interior design is commodious, operational, and armed with a plethora of conveniences in the higher models. The driving disposition is higher, it's an SUV-like stance and there's lots of room for two adults to sit comfortably in the back seat. Even though the majority of the interior is made of black plastic, everything offers an alluring texture to avoid any hint of a cheap appearance. Higher-level trims add toned trim pieces and chrome decorations that offer a more high end look. In the back, behind the rear seat is a lavish cargo bay, and also, the Chevy provides fold-flat back seats in addition to a folding front passenger seat to offer ample room for extensive materials and items.

Infotainment and Connectedness

The Trailblazer is outfitted with Chevy's latest infotainment network, which allows you to connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. Moreover, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment network comes as stand equipment but the 8.0-inch alternative is discretionary. It offers available Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration in addition to Sirius XM satellite radio, and leaning toward the Technology bundle gives way for wireless connectivity to the interconnections for the two smartphone devices. Furthermore, A four-speaker stereo system comes as a standard feature on the base L, but upgrading to a more upscale model offers either a six-speaker system or a superior Bose stereo equipped with seven speakers.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Attributes

Chevrolet arms each Trailblazer with a myriad of fundamental driver-assistance technology and also offers more modern tech, such as adaptive cruise control, which is optional. Additional key safety attributes include:
  • Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Available adaptive cruise control

Maintenance and Warranty Coverage

The Trailblazer's first visit for servicing and maintenance is complimentary, which is not typical among competitors.
  • Limited warranty covers up to 60,000 km (3 years)
  • Powertrain warranty covers up to 100,000 km (5 years)
  • Complimentary maintenance on the first visit is covered
